ANDREA MARCELLI Andrea Marcelli was born (1962) and raised in Rome. Graduated at the Conservatory of Music Refice in Classical Clarinet and Jazz Composition. Worked as featured drummer (1982-88) in such TV Shows for RAI-TV as: Domenica In, Tandem, Blitz, DOC, Il Nastro d'Argento, Orecchiocchio, Il Piacere dell'Estate, Vediamoci sul 2, Cartoni Magici, La Musica c'e` and others. Since 1984 he has recorded more than 190 of his compositions broadcasted in TV, Films e Radio programs world-wide. Two of his compositions are included in "The European Real Book" by Shermusic. Andrea moved to USA in 1989 spending 12 years between Los Angeles and New York gaining a special green card as "First preference alien with extraordinary abilities". He is now resident in Berlin since 2001. Andrea lead a very active musical life performing with: Wayne Shorter, Bob Mintzer, Eddie Gomez, David Liebman, Don Menza, Eberhard Weber, Mitchel Forman, Rick Margitza, Markus Stockhausen, Simon Stockhausen, Bob Berg, Ralph Towner, Mike Stern, Eric Marienthal, John Patitucci, Andy Summers, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Jeff Andrews, Harold Land, Bennie Maupin, Alphonso Johnson, Alan Pasqua, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Palle Danielsson, Arild Anderson, Hiram Bullock, Davide Petrocca, Thomas Clausen, Ekkehard Woelk and others. Andrea's first two acclaimed CDs with his compositions are: "Silent Will"(Verve/Polydor K.K./PolyGram) and "Oneness"(Verve/Polydor K.K.& Lipstick Rec.) - Top 10 Jazz CD of 1991 (#8) Tower Records' Pulse - Top 20 Jazz New Releases, Ad Lib (Japan)1990 - Among the Top Jazz Picks 1991 for Jazziz Magazine - Guitar World Critics' Choice, New Releases 4/92 ---- - produced Chema Vilchez' debut CD, Best Jazz CD of 1996 for Radio 1 National Spain - performed on the Film, Mississippi Masala. - Won 2 Prizes at the Berlin Jazz & Blues Awards 2002. - Performed on award winning film "Good bye Lenin". - Recorded and produced several projects in collaboration with the Conservatory of Copenhagen, including CD "Alchemy" by Paolo Russo, Top 5 Jazz CD 2004 in Denmark. In 2005 was invited in New York by Art of Life Records to produce his new CD "Beyond the Blue" released in Europe by BHM Productions with Eddie Gomez, Bob Mintzer, Mitchel Forman and Mike Stern. In 2005-07 Andrea performed in Japan, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Finland, France, Spain, Belgium, Russia, USA etc...
